Oil and gasoline prices would
be about 15 percent higher
now if biofuel producers were
not increasing their output,
International Energy Agency data shows global biofuels production has cut consumption of crude oil by 1 million barrels a day, a savings of $120 million dollars a day.
The U.S. biodiesel industry is creating green collar jobs and making positive contributions to our economy. In 2008 alone, the biodiesel industry supported 51,000 jobs in all sectors of the economy; added $4.287 billion to the nation’s GDP; and generated
$866.2 million in tax revenue for local, state and the federal government.
In 2010, biodiesel’s contribution to reducing
greenhouse gas emissions was the equivalent
of removing nearly 2 million passenger
vehicles from America’s roadways.
